Editor’s Pick: What Is Christ Without The Cross?

Jesus Christ (or Yeshua) of Nazareth is the most popular, famous, impactful, remarkable Man that ever lived.  The fact that He was born at all is still the most significant event in this world’s history, more than 2000 years later!  We even set our dates by His birth.  He is the guy that everyone loves to love, and many love to hate too.  It seems, everybody wants a piece of Him!

However, there is something very controversial about this Man, something that hinders His acceptance among many…but that is absolutely inseparable from His identity.  Many wish He didn’t have such a stain on Him…  If only He didn’t say things like that…  If only He didn’t do that…  If only He didn’t stand for that…

What is that?  The Cross!  Christ without the Cross is like a heart without a beat…  Dead and useless!  But so many would prefer Him that way.  Even many who claim to believe in Him…

Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men” (Matt 16:22-23).
