I want to be miserable today! In fact, I’m determined to be miserable as long as it takes to get what I want…
“Don’t worry, be happy!” goes the song.
But they don’t understand what I’m going through! How upset and angry I am.
“Don’t worry, be happy!” it continues!
No, I can’t be happy. How will they know that something is wrong when I act like I’m happy and not bothered? Why should I suffer in silence?
“Don’t worry, be happy!”
AAAARGGH!!! Shut up!!! I can’t not worry! It’s so unfair. You don’t understand. I’m fed up.
“Don’t worry, be happy!”
This is not how my life is supposed to be. This isn’t what I signed up for. Don’t I deserve to be happy?
“You do! So stop worrying, and just be happy. It’s absolutely up to you.”
Huh? That’s not real happiness. That’s faking.
“You can be happy in any situation. Though people may try to upset you or do things that annoy you – getting upset and annoyed is your decision.”
But I don’t want to be happy if things are not going my way… I don’t want to settle for less.
“Being happy despite your problems doesn’t mean you’re settling. You are simply exercising control over your emotions. When you’re happy you can see the open window, though the door is jammed shut.”
How does that change my situation?
“What you’re doing is worsening your situation. Worrying and being miserable makes your mind a cage. When you stop worrying, your mind expands and possibilities light up. Just try it!”
I still feel miserable. But I’ll try.
Meditation
“Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” (Matt 6:27)
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matt 6:34)
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Phil 4:4)
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Phil 4:6)

I think it’s hard to overcome negative feelings but I do think it can be done. I think we do it unthinkingly all the time. Interesting post!

Really? I feel embarrassed about it. It’s so without substance,I’ve been wondering if I should delete it. I guess others might relate to it.
Thanks for commenting though. I’m still trying to work out my feelings.
Cheers, Ufuoma.
