The Spotlight – A Review of ‘More’ by Sola Oguche-Agudah

I was gifted TWO copies of this book by the author in September, ahead of its release in October! One copy was to give away to participants of the ongoing A Small World Readathon, which I am doing ahead of the release of Season Five of A Small World, tagged, ‘New Year’s Eve.’ And the other was for my reading pleasure and honest review…

First, for those who don’t know the author, Sola Oguche-Agudah is a woman with a ministry for prayer, mothers, and marriages, and I really enjoyed the first book by her that I read, Zara: Love and Second Chances. I even reviewed it on my blog.

She has since published three other titles, and this is the second that I am reading. She is the CEO and Co-Founder of The Agudah Institute (TAI) whose vision is to transform individuals, build healthy families, shape culture and transform nations through trainings, resources, counseling, coaching and the media. More, her latest work, is a clear example of such resources through which TAI hopes to impact the world.

More is a different type of romance and a different type of adventure. It’s about Lase and Nadia, best friends, who become betrothed to support their fathers’ political ambitions, but through the process find themselves and God’s perfect will for their lives.

How do friends move to become lovers, when they never saw themselves in that light before? How do they forsake their own dreams and ambitions for just a chance that they can impact their parent’s influence and achievement of their goals? How can you know someone anew when you have seen them finish?

This story was both compelling and educative for me. I was intrigued by the way the characters evolved as they made the decision for the greater good. I liked how it showed a way forward for the redemption of my country, Nigeria, through youth participation in politics. And I liked how it also addressed how ignorance and naivety can cause problems in marriages, when we do not approach it with intentionality.

There were some things that some characters did that seriously baffled me and earned them insults! Absolutely unbelievable! But I liked how these occasions were used to enlighten the readers that truly, some people just don’t have a clue, and we shouldn’t take these things for granted.

More was eye-opening, inspiring, and deeply spiritual. I took away the lesson about the importance of prayer and using this tool to work with God to create destinies. It was a well-thought out work, and I applaud the author.

I had to get myself another copy at the book launch in October, and I ran a competition in the Readathon group so I could find a worthy recipient of this copy. Praise Abraham made a beautiful submission, which I shared on my IG page, and won herself a copy of this exceptional book.

If you would like to get yours, the ebook is available to purchase on Amazon Kindle and Selar, or follow her on social media @solaogucheagudah for more links to get a copy.
