Seventeen years ago.
Amaka looked down at the folded white note that had just been passed to her by her neighbour and friend, Sade. Her heart flipped in her chest. She knew who it was from already. He had sent her two before, folded exactly the same way. She thought he was the sweetest thing, and his persistence was endearing.
