“And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry: And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it” (Mark 11:12-14).
I want to draw a lesson from the fig tree in relation to Christian blogging, which is a ministry for me and a lot of you out there. Through this ministry, we provide nourishment to the world, not just to fellow Christians, but anyone seeking to know the truth. All seeking wisdom, love and righteous direction for their lives, should be blessed when they stumble upon our little Oasis.
Sometimes, though, it can feel like you are preaching to the Choir, because it’s usually the same people who visit, read and appreciate your content – and most are already believers. You may feel like just another convenience store in a long street of convenience stores, negligible without any unique insight to share…
