Oh, Lord,
I know You understand us
Because of Jesus Christ…
I know You care and feel compassion for us…
I know that, through Jesus Christ,
You felt and feel our pain…
You feel the injustice.
The fear. The sorrow.
The pain of being forsaken,
Left to the cruelty of men…
Because while Jesus was on Earth,
Bearing the sins of the world upon the Cross,
He cried out to You, as one of us…
As though You did not know,
As though You did not understand…
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
In that moment, He felt Your judgement;
The unbearable separation and torment that comes from sin.
The anguish of injustice,
The terror of evil…
And so, I know that You see us.
Where we are, whatever we are going through,
You see that we are helpless without You…
Merciful God, You had compassion on us,
Through Jesus Christ, Your Son.
You did not leave us alone,
Without a helper.Ā Without a Savior.
Your own arm performed Your salvation,
As it was prophesied through Isaiah…
“He was wounded for our transgressions,
“He was bruised for our iniquities:
“The chastisement of our peace was upon Him;
“And with His stripes we are healed…”
And so, Your love is proven in this;
That You sent Your only begotten Son
To suffer and die on the Cross…
To save and redeem the world;
To save us from ourselves,
To save sinners like me…
And that I might know that
You see me.
You feel me.
And You love me.
