EPISODE TWENTY-SIX
Ope shut the door to the hotel behind him. He brought out his phone and speed-dialled a number. The person picked up on the second ring.
“Boss?”
“We’re at the hotel,” he said, blocking Richard’s exit. He cut the call.
“Ope, it’s not what you think. I…I just came out for some fresh air. I didn’t even know s…she was here…”
“Save your speech for the police!”
“The police? The Nigerian Police?” Richard said scornfully. “You h…have to be kidding me, right? On what charges are you going to ar…rrest me?”
“For a slimy snake, you are very confident in your deception. But you should be ashamed. And very afraid!”
Richard couldn’t understand what Ope was doing. He tried to shove him aside so that he could leave, but Ope resisted him and pushed him back.
“You know, I never could understand how a pitiful, wretched man such as yourself had the gall to be making threats at my wife…even while expecting favours from me. And even after I showed mercy on you and gave you a chance, you continue in your campaign to humiliate my wife. Certainly, you know something that I don’t, and today, we will find out just what that is…”
“She has you deceived! She’s a whore!”
