Prayer…. Do you really believe it works? If you do, does it work like a leathal weapon, with immediate effect, or more like a slow-ticking time bomb? Is it the first resort in times of crisis, or do you place it aside like an ineffective toy gun, to look for more practical solutions to your predicament?
Honestly and truly, how much do you believe in prayer? Is it like a pill that you take daily to keep you alive, or more like a vitamin supplement you can afford to miss now and then?
How you use prayer reveals whether you truly believe it is the most potent force in the world or if you are just playing a religious game.
Though prayer may feel like throwing a penny in a wishing well or a placebo drug you are taking, because so often the response is not immediate or clearly seen, I do believe in the power of prayer. Even if it is just the hope that prayer releases… Even if it is the renewed strength, courage or ideas that prayer sparks… Even if it is the counsel that it reveals to the seeker of wisdom. Prayer works. God just controls how.
The power of prayer is in the faith we put in God to do a miracle. He does miracles everyday, whether or not we realise them. Nothing moves God like faith…
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:21
Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep believing.
