Amadi sulked all the way home.  He was so angry with Erhuvwun for disrespecting him in the presence of all those nosy and annoying villagers!  Why couldn’t she just trust him for once?  Why couldn’t she just obey?!

Sure, she was upset about her father, but that old man didn’t have any sickness that wasn’t common.  He had been a little concerned himself when the man was convulsing, but there wasn’t any foam or sign of any serious illness.  Maybe the old drunk just missed his daughter.  Maybe he could have just lightened up and let Erhuvwun stay.  But it was her defiance that burnt his fuse…
