I’ve been listening to Joel Osteen’s podcast for about three months now, listening to 3 or more episodes almost every day. I have been encouraged, motivated, inspired, challenged, and altogether blessed. I’ve also shared a couple of the ones that really resonated with me on my WhatsApp status…
But the more and more I listen to Joel, the more I feel I love him! Naturally, he is nourishing me with God’s word and truth, and his way is like a balm to me. There’s nothing rough about Joel Osteen, at least from what I have gathered so far. And I also love the ministrations his wife, Victoria, gives, though they tend to be significantly shorter.
At the beginning of their podcast, they encourage people to share the message, and well, I don’t do so enough. But as a writer, blogger, author, and podcaster, I know what it’s like when you keep asking people to share or review, but they just chop, smile, and walk away… So, today, I thought I’d share five things I love about Joel Osteen’s podcast ministry, in the hopes that you will also become an avid listener…
1. JOEL IS A MINISTER OF HOPE
One thing that you will see pretty quickly from listening to Joel is that he is filled with hope and optimism. His message is filled with positivity, possibility, as he passionately reminds you of God’s goodness, no matter what is happening in your life.
2. JOEL IS A MINISTER OF JOY
Joel is a happy guy. He knows it, everyone knows it. He laughs at the fact that he is sometimes regarded as The Smiling Pastor. His joy comes through in his preaching which is filled with laughter, good humour, and even jokes, which he likes to start every sermon with. He is all about living the good life Jesus died so we can have the liberty to enjoy…
3. JOEL IS A MINISTER OF GRACE
Joel is passionate about living by the grace of God and extending that grace to others. He teaches a lot about God’s forgiveness and empowerment to live right, such that any one listening to him, who is burdened by sin, will feel relieved and encouraged to approach God’s throne of grace. He also ends all his messages by inviting people to give their lives to Jesus.
4. JOES IS A MINISTER OF GRATITUDE
I’ve been listening for long enough now that I feel like I know Joel and the many wonderful things God has blessed him with. He boasts constantly about the goodness of God in his life, breakthroughs he has had, how God guided him in making certain decisions and leading him to prosper in his ministry. Though there is quite some repetition, it doesn’t come across too repetitive, because of how he shares a lesson through the different events he recounts. And he teaches others to be grateful too, believing God for even more…
5. JOEL AND VICTORIA ARE MINISTERS OF COMPASSION
I think this comes through more in Victoria’s ministrations. Maybe because she’s a woman, a mother – a nurturer. But you also see this compassion in Joel’s realness. He is not piety. He truly understands the human condition and is real when he is addressing challenges people experience, without being defeatist. They are all about living in victory and rising to the occasion, though we may be hard-pressed on every side.
These are just some of the reasons I tend to click on their podcast, from my list of favourites every day. I need their balm, and if you love what I’ve shared, I encourage you to check them out too. I listen on Spotify. They are also available on other platforms. Their church website is www.lakewoodchurch.com.
Please note that this endorsement isn’t an agreement with everything they preach or believe, but I am confident that they are God’s ministers, able to encourage you to a deeper relationship with God.
