Do you realise that the whole idea of the existence of a god or gods is arbitrary? Like, it is so random that someone would wake up one day and think or believe that there is some supreme being behind everything they see… Without any revelation of God, if such a being never made itself known, there should be no reason for humans to think, let alone believe, that the whole world and universe was made by a divine power.
Everything we know about our world, we had to discover. Even the things we thought or imagined existed, they remained imaginations or theories until they could be proven by investigation and experience. The big idea about how our world and humanity came to be is generally understood through the hypothesis of The Big Bang and the Theory of Evolution. But the whole idea that something came from nothing…no, that INTELLIGENCE came from absolutely nothing, in some kind of cosmic accident that needed MATTER, but claimed to have none pre-existing, is quite a stretch to believe… Yet, that’s the leading hypothesis in Humanism.
But just as hard to comprehend is the existence of a being that has always existed, that was never created but created everything in nature, and that never ages, and actually exists beyond time and space… That’s mind boggling! And even more incredible is the idea that such a thing, such a being, would want to have a relationship with us… How did the human mind devise the existence of God? Because, as long as the world has been in existence, humans have wondered as to their existence and how everything came to be, and many have leaned on the idea that a Supreme Being was and is behind it all…
This is what I think…
Because we have a scientific and analytical mind, I don’t think we came on the idea of God on our own. I think that God Himself put that idea there… That wonder, that expectation, that hope… And He put it there so that we would seek Him.
But in our search, we fell short and settled for less. Many worshipped the sun and the moon, even creating idols as their imaginations and limited understanding caused them to err. You see, without God’s help, we could not find Him (Jer 29:13).
Somehow, these idol worshippers knew they owed worship for their existence. They desired to worship. But to whom it belonged, they did not know. Without knowing, we all satisfy our craving to worship God by worshipping other things…even ourselves.
God desires our true worship (John 4:23). He wanted to be known, but as one that exists beyond our realm, He could not be discovered…He had to REVEAL Himself. And that is exactly what He did, as written in scripture. He revealed Himself first through prophets, and ultimately through Jesus Christ of Nazareth (Heb 1:1-2).
So, the idea we had that there had to be more, there had to be someone or something behind all that we see, has been confirmed by the revelation of God to man.
We could not have imagined Him, because such does not even make sense to our imagination. We could not have discovered Him, because He doesn’t abide within our realm of experience. So, He manifested Himself; He chose a people to be His light on the Earth…and He Himself, came down to show us that truly what was written about Him was FACT, and that He really does want to lead us… He has great plans for us – humanity.
We would not know Him if He did not reveal Himself. So, as arbitrary as the idea of God sounds, when He has revealed Himself, the idea of His existence is no longer random or strange; it’s truth. We may not fully comprehend it, we may not fully know Him, but He is no longer an idea. He is as real as any other discovery…
If we can appreciate the vastness and intangibility of the Internet, made by man, surely, we can begin to appreciate how there exists an unseen and uncontainable force, who, as a Being, made us in His likeness.
Those who believe His revelation are awakened to a truer reality than those who stumble in the dark, looking for proof of the One that was never created and for which matter, space, and time can neither contain nor explain.
So, do you believe God is real? I KNOW He is.
“You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth…” (John 4:22-24).

yep, and when some human lies and tries to claim how important she is because of some magical being talks to her but she can’t show it, no one needs to believe her false claims.
No one has some magical feeling of “god”. We can see that from the sad instances of feral children. Your god never shows up.
And your god isn’t somethign humans couldnt’ imagine. It is just a more powerful human, still full of the same petty traits and stupidity.

Thanks for reading… Did you read to the end?
You said he never shows up, but I think you should own your own experience. He shows up for me and many others.

Yep, I read to the end.
I do love that you lie to try to make yourself special. Alas for you, Ufuomaee, this god never shows up for people who really need it. Amazing how that works, right? People who are going to be killed never see this god. People who are amputees or burn victims never have healing. Children who are starving never see manna falling to feed them.

“I do love that you lie to try to make yourself special…”
Seems to me that you are the one who is lying…
Seriously, you LOVE that I LIE???
You think I’m lying and you speak on behalf of EVERYONE by saying God never shows up. You are the liar.

I do love that you lie since your actions show that your religion is nonsense and that helps getting rid of it and *its* lies.
I don’t speak on behalf of anyone except me. Do show I’m a liar, Ufuomaee.

Well, you said “He doesn’t show up.” THAT’S A LIE.
I corrected you and asked you to speak for yourself.
You repeated yourself, by saying He doesn’t show up for certain people in need you expect Him to show up for.
Now you say, “I don’t speak on behalf of anyone except me…”
Can’t you see that you are lying?
If you were speaking for yourself only, you would say…
“He hasn’t shown up for me…” “When this happened, He didn’t show up…” etc.
We all have our personal experiences. But you use yours to invalidate mine. I don’t have to prove anything to you. I know what I have been through and I know who have been a constant in my life… I also know I am not the only one. There are many things I can’t explain and few things I know. One of the few things I know is that God is real, no matter what YOUR experience has been.
But I reckon if you say HE NEVER SHOWED UP FOR ME, you would still be lying! Because God is good to everyone, the just and the unjust, and whether or not you realise it, He watches over you, and He has shown up at least once…maybe you don’t remember or are too embittered to confess it.
Have a great day all the same.
Blessings, Ufuoma.

And agina we have this god showing up for those who want to brag about it and never showing up for those who need it. You have no evidence for your bragging. This is why I say he doesn’t show up for you. I am indeed speaking only for myself in declaring that you have nothing.
This god isn’t good to everyone. You do seem to need to ignore the Chrisitans who are persecuted; the people who lose their limbs and are burned and scarred for life; the children that starve. Your god does nothing. And nope, your god has never shown up for me. And if it would, I’d much rather it actually help someone who needs it, like all of those I listed above.

Arguing with you is clearly pointless, so let’s stop here.
Take care.

I’m not sure I’d use the word Arbitrary, but I rather think you’re on to something. Arbitrary or Capricious a have the concept of “for no good reason”. I would say Sovereign. Yes, it’s all His choice and His doing to Reveal or not reveal Himself to us. I believe the “not” part of that may be more in response to our “heart” condition and readiness to “see” what he would reveal. God, “not willing that any would perish”often if not most of the time has no other choice… can i say that?… because we have not “ears to hear” or eyes to see… Yet. Sovereign, yet loving and respectful of our individual readiness to “see” and accept what He reveals. But not exactly Arbitrary and purposeless. Sovereign with Purpose and Reasons of His own.
